Book Exhibition and Competitions Hindi Diwas

Objectives of the activity
On the occasion of Hindi Diwas, the Central Library and the Department of Library and Information Science organized a series of engaging activities to celebrate and promote the significance of Hindi, India’s official language. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students, staff, and the local community, fostering a deep sense of appreciation for the richness of the Hindi language and literature.
Summary/Description
The celebration kicked off with a ‘Hindi Book Exhibition’. The library curated a wide range of Hindi literature, including novels, poetry collections, essays, and historical works. The exhibition featured classic hindi authors and contemporary writers such as Munshi Premchand, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Suryakant Tripathi Nirala, Uday Prakash, Geetanjali Shree etc.
A ‘Slogan Writing Competition’ was conducted for students to highlight the importance of Hindi in modern India. The participants were tasked with creating impactful and inspiring slogans on themes such as ‘The promotion of significance of Hindi’. The competition saw vibrant participation, with slogans that creatively captured the cultural and national importance of Hindi. The winning slogans were displayed prominently within the library premises, earning widespread appreciation.
In a bid to combine creativity with linguistic pride, a ‘Logo Making Competition’ was organized. Participants were invited to design logos that symbolized Hindi as a unifying force in the country. The logos were judged on creativity and originality, aesthetic appeal and design execution.
To further highlight the importance of Hindi, a ‘Poster Making Competition’ was also held. Students created posters based on themes like: - The winning posters were displayed prominently within the library.
Outcome of the activity
The Hindi Diwas celebration at the Central Library, IISU was a grand success, providing a platform for the community to celebrate the heritage and importance of the Hindi language. Through book exhibitions and creative competitions such as slogan writing, logo making, and poster creation, participants were able to explore and express their love for Hindi in unique and impactful ways. The event not only honored Hindi as a language but also inspired younger generations to cherish and promote it. The library looks forward to continuing these traditions in the coming years, fostering deeper engagement with India’s linguistic and literary treasures.
