Objective of the activity: To make aware of the students regarding the library services and facilities and train them to use and access the online web resources.
Summary/Description:
Central Library organized Orientation, User Awareness and Training Session of IISU e-library and National Digital Library of India” from 12th August to 15th September, 2024. More than 324 students and faculty attended the session. Discipline-wise sessions were also conducted for students.
Dr. Sonal Jain, the Librarian, conducted an informative session for students, providing an overview of the library’s diverse resources, including books, journals, periodicals, online resources, and newspapers. She introduced the Book Bank facility and other valuable services offered by the library.
She demonstrated how to access the IISU Digital Library and the National Digital Library remotely, guiding students on navigating and utilizing various online resources. She highlighted the e-resources subscribed by the library and those available on open access platforms. Additionally, the session focused on the importance of using technology efficiently to access these resources. Students were informed about the National Digital Library of India (NDL India), an extensive digital repository storing metadata for a wide array of digital content.
Emphasizing academic integrity, Dr. Jain educated students on the benefits of e-resources, the need to avoid plagiarism, and the importance of proper citation and bibliography creation.
Outcome of the activity: Students and faculty came to know about different resources and collection of the library and understand how to make use of the resources for academic enrichment.
