Objective of the session: The objective was to give a brief information on the technological usage of the dashboard of the CMIE databases so that students are able to use these in making projects, assignments, reports and enhance their skills. Summary: The Central Library and Department of Management Studies in collaboration with CMIE organized an online training session to give an introduction on two databases- Economic Outlook and Prowess IQ. To begin with Dr Sonal Jain introduced the trainer and welcomed him. Mr Negi then took over the session. The students were given their login id credentials in order to access the databases either in university campus or from anywhere through e-library. They learnt that Economic Outlook is an informative service which keeps us up-to-date on macroeconomics, business, sectoral and socio- economic factors. It also displays data in charts which helps in better representation of data in graphical form and make comparisons with similar fields. Further, Mr Negi highlighted that Prowess IQ is an interactive querying system to find companies from the Prowess database. He demonstrated the pattern of using this which consists of submitting query to the Prowess database and receive answers to the query from the same. It can be used to search a company by name and study all relevant information available on the database like the financial statements, ownership structure, government indicators, stock prices, capital changes, products and services offered by the company and many more. Students learnt to access one-page profile of the companies (whether standalone or consolidated) in order to study and make comparisons between the companies belonging to the same industry. Outcome of the Activity: It was an informative and upskilling training session which guided and motivated students to make use of the CMIE databases in their academic enrichment.
