Dr. Sonal Jain, Librarian apprised the gathering of the significance of the annual event organized by UNESCO on April 23, marking the death anniversary of the writers William Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. The day is celebrated to promote the importance of reading, a lifelong love of literature and its integration into the workplace, to inculcate joy and foster the growth of readers, and emphasize the pleasure of reading.

Dr. Sonal Jain, then, introduced the event’s resource person, Mr. Pankaj Kumar, IPR Facilitator, IIS (deemed to be University) whose candid interaction with the students and faculty, precisely sensitized the assemblage of the copyright issues. He discussed copyright as a legal term used to describe the rights that creators have over their literary and artistic works. The multiplicity of copyright ranges from books, music, paintings, sculpture, and films, to computer programs, databases, advertisements, maps, and technical drawings.

In particular, he explored the polyvalent applications of the copyright system and the internalization of rules and regulations, which ensures the author’s authority over the original creation or the institution he is working for. More than 60 participants enthusiastically participated in the talk. The mode of interaction equitably resolved the dubieties of students and proved to be a beneficial and informative session.
