STRATEGIES AND TIPS TO ENCHANCE VIRTUAL LEARNING BY EBSCO-Guest Lecture

Objective of the activity: The aim of organizing this session was to provide training to the students for utilizing the E-resources by using EBSCO Business Source Elite online database in order to excel in academic and research activities. Summary To begin with Dr Sonal Jain introduced the Speaker, Mr Lakhpat Singh Naruka and welcomed him. Then Mr Naruka took over the session. He gave an overview about EBSCO and highlighted its significance for the students. EBSCO stands for Elton B Stephens CO who initiated the idea and is the founder of the organization. It is an aggregator of databases which provides information across the globe. It includes journals, books, e-books and libraries with different genres. EBSCO has a e-library concept which connects different libraries of universities and institutions with their database to ensure proper flow of information and service provider. It is also the major provider of management journals and blogs like Harvard Business Review and Bloomberg. Along with the exposure to the knowledge of commercial world of business in the form of magazines- Forbes and Times 100 influencers. It has a user-friendly interface with multiple log- in account options including G-mail and email accounts of students. The university libraries can also operate with the resource provider directly. The e-resource provider has different publishers, academic libraries which can used from any technology gadget. The information provider is cost effective, time saving and hassle-free for academic and research purposes. The user can login and create account through bar codes by scanning and sign in to the account. The most impressive feature of the EBSCO is the audio and video option. The user can listen to the book which he /she is reading or the research working on by selecting the language of their own preference: HINDI, ENGLISH(BRITISH), ENGLISH(AUSTRALIAN) and ENGLISH(AMERICAN). The video option gives reader a realistic and enhanced view of the book to increase the indulgence and interest. E-Certificates were provided to all the participants by EBSCO Outcome of the activity: Students became equipped with the knowledge of using EBSCO to enhance their academic learning
